Attendance
All students are expected to be in class when the bell rings to begin the period. If they arrive late they will be considered tardy. If they do not attend, for any reason, they will be considered absent.
Students begin each six-week marking period with a bank of 100 points. Each absence subtracts two (2) points from their bank. Each tardy subtracts one (1) point from their bank.
A students attendance score (the amount in their bank) is 10% of his/her grade each marking period, and for the semester.
The most that attendance can affect a students grade is one letter grade, unless a student does not attend more than 50% of the classes, in which case the attendance score will be zero.
Homework
Homework is assigned on a regular basis. It will be posted on the website for each class, accessible via John Kron on the LHS website under Academics > Language Arts.
A Due Date will be indicated with each assignment. Homework is due at the beginning of class on the due date.
When homework involves long-range reading, students are expected to complete a reasonable amount of reading each day until the due date. Students should learn to manage their time and divide their reading over the days allotted.
Tests and Quizzes
Tests will always be announced in advance and posted on the website. An indication of what will be covered by the test will be given in class.
Quizzes may be announced in advance or may be pop quizzes. Quizzes will cover material included in homework for a given day. Quizzes will NOT be posted on the website.
Missing Work/Makeup Work
Students who miss work for any reason will be given time to make that work up according to LHS policy. A score of 50% of an assignments value, plus .1, will be entered as a score until work is made up. (EXAMPLE: If a paper worth 80 points is not turned in, a score of 40.1 will be entered.) If work is not made up, the score may revert to m which is averaged as a zero. This will severely impact a students class grade.
Work submitted in violation of the LHS Academic Integrity Policy will be scored as a zero.
Students who miss a test will need to make up that test at a time agreed upon by the student and Mr. Kron.
Missed quizzes will not be made up but will not count against a students grade.
Mr. Kron does not give extra credit.
